Founded in December 2005, the Corporate & University Relations Group (CURG) is dedicated to bringing colleges and universities together with corporations and federal laboratories in mutually beneficial strategic partnerships, particularly in the science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) arena. In today’s world in which colleges and universities face financial difficulties and struggle to maintain strong academic programs that graduate well trained students ready for the workforce and in which employers must identify and recruit highly qualified employees to strengthen and solidify their competitive positions, developing strong long-term alliances between educational institutions and corporations can help to address the needs of both. Through support of research, scholarships, and student internships, corporations can obtain solutions to their immediate development problems while at the same time gaining access to students that represent their future workforce. Universities benefit in their ability to recruit and retain top students by providing a stimulating educational environment, by giving students the opportunity to address challenging, real-world research problems through professional practice programs, and by opening doors for students to potential employers.
The Corporate & University Relations Group has a strong record of working with colleges, universities, and corporations in developing successful, best-in-class strategic partnerships that have provided excellent returns to all involved.
